Getting a crown to fit the first time comes down to a handful of decisions made well, from armamentarium and prep design to scan capture and lab collaboration. This course walks through the full workflow, from the first bur to final seating. Learn how to set patient expectations, plan with a digital wax-up, prepare and retract for clean margins, verify every scan with QC and AI-assisted review, and work with your lab to lock in the design and shade before fabrication.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Set clear patient expectations: Explain the treatment sequence, temporization, and timeline so patients understand what a well-fitting crown requires.
- Build the right armamentarium: Identify the tools, materials, and digital technology needed to deliver predictable crown & bridge outcomes in a digital workflow.
- Refine your preps: Select burs and understand prep design options and principles matched to the planned restoration.
- Establish Clear margins: Apply methods for defining clean, accessible margins using retraction cord, hemostatic gel, laser, and soft tissue management techniques.
- QC every scan and collaborate with your lab: Utilize digital tools to evaluate each scan for margin clarity, voids and distortion, and review the proposed design in 360° with your lab prior to fabrication.
- Deliver predictable provisionals: Use a digital wax-up to confirm occlusal clearance and reduction before final prep, then efficiently deliver custom provisionals that preview the final restoration and allow refinements before finals are made.
