Partial Extraction Therapy PET is an old/new concept that has been utilized in dentistry for decades. The main goal of the different techniques was to preserve the natural pre-existing hard and soft tissue in the dentoalveolar complex by means of preserving the dental PDL. Socket Shield Technique SST, is the newest topic in PET that was published in 2010. Since then, many advancements and research were performed to develop a better understanding for the technique, and to be utilized in Implant Dentistry Safely. Today In 2022, a higher level of evidence studies are still needed to discuss the proof of concept we have in SST. Although the SST is very technique sensitive and requires additional training to be performed safely, this presentation will simplify the concept where I will be discussing the diagnosis and case selection criteria for the SST cases, and the step-by-step explanation for the most recent developments of the technique.
