In today’s clinical and dental practice environments, kindness is not a soft skill: it’s a leadership strategy. This engaging CE session explores the difference between being nice and being kind, and how intentional kindness strengthens resilience, reduces burnout, and improves team performance and patient trust. Participants will learn practical approaches including the “Connect First, Then Teach” feedback model, principles of deliberate practice, and ways to create psychologically safe learning environments. Through real-world examples, review of the evidence, and actionable tools, this program equips dental practitioners and leaders to build cultures where people thrive and excellence is sustainable.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the role of kindness, psychological safety, and effective feedback in promoting resilience and sustainable learning in pediatric dental practice environments.
- Recognize communication strategies that foster psychological safety and constructive feedback in the clinical setting.
- Identify small, actionable changes to their own supervisory style that incorporate kindness-based strategies.
About the Presenter

Glenn Canares, DDS, MSD, is a pediatric dentist, an educator, and professional speaker. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, the Program Director for the Pediatric Dentistry residency program, and serves as a Wellness Ambassador for the University of Maryland Medical Center.
And like many of you, his leadership experiences came with a focus on the head while ignoring the heart. Now Glenn is on a mission to change that. Great leadership should include the whole person because the way we approach leadership is the way our professionals of tomorrow will approach their patients. He speaks about how kindness boosts learning, resilience, and performance: using neuroscience, real stories, and small, practical behaviors. His Kindness Curriculum is shared via keynote talks, workshops, webinars, podcasts, and one-on-one coaching.
