Reducing chronic infectious burdens on the immune system has always been important in healthcare, and dentistry is no different. Oral infections like those associated with gum disease place a chronic low-grade burden on the immune system, and treatment for it has been associated with improvements in systemic health outcomes.
Come to this course to review the importance of health histories and to learn how to talk to your patients about the importance of treatment for a disease that doesn’t yet hurt but already compromises their health. We’ll review the science and the practice of Rx Tray homecare and provide clear steps for case presentation.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe improvements in systemic health outcomes from periodontal therapy.
- Identify patients who can benefits from Rx tray delivery of oxidative and oxygenating antimicrobial agents.
- Practice a 5-step case presentation model to help patients understand the importance of therapy and replies for when patients delay treatment
About the Presenter
Tanya Dunlap, PhD is a Vice President at Perio Protect, where she has worked since 2005. For several years she served as the research liaison for the company, working with researchers who tested Perio Tray® therapy in controlled clinical trials and microbiology studies. Her expertise on this adjunctive periodontal therapy is grounded in the data, explaining how the prescription trays work, and which patient candidates can benefit from them.
