Non-surgical therapy is today intended to play a key role in the management of periodontal disease. Through the concept of infection control, the cause related therapy is strictly related to the clinical possibility of both supra and sub-gingival biofilm removal. Low abrasive powders as glycine and erythritol, in conjunction with ultrasonics, seem to be effective in provide biofilm control in both active and maintenance periodontal therapy.
