UOR 2014 This course is built for all practitioners who want to learn how to effectively sharpen scaling instruments for use in clinical practice. Despite the many gadgets that have come out over the years to assist with instrument sharpening, most clinicians still rely on their trusty hand stones to accomplish the task. This course focuses on sharpening instruments utilizing hand stones and will emphasize maintaining the integrity of instruments during sharpening that will increase the longevity of your instrument’s clinical use. We will also review infection control and personal protective equipment protocol that should be in place for instrument sharpening. This hands-on workshop will allow participants to participate in presenter-guided practice with instrument sharpening.
