RDH UOR 2013 Biofilms are complex polymicrobial communities that contribute to many debilitating diseases, including periodontal disease and caries. Biofilms play a significant role in the development of chronic wounds, delayed wound healing and persistent re-infections and resist traditional antibiotic therapy. New combination therapies are emerging that treat Mother Nature’s most unique microbial challenges.
