UOR 2014 People are constantly exposed to germs on every surface they touch and to background ionizing radiation from everyday activities, such as flying across the country and working in the garden on a sunny day. This course focuses on infection control and radiation safety issues in the practice of dental radiography. The many recent technological radiographic advances pose new concerns in both cross-contamination and radiation exposure issues. The focus is on reviewing the standard precautions of infection control and the principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) with traditional film, digital sensors, hand-held devices, and cone beam CT.
