This course will take a look at the typical obstacles perceived to be valid reasons by dentist, dental hygienist, dental practice business managers, and managing partners, as to why new technology is not readily adopted for the dental hygiene component of clinical practices and dental hygiene programs.  Challenges will be presented regarding these obstacles along with suggested strategies as to how a clinical practices or dental hygiene education programs might begin to pair these technologies to create a “Next-Generation” patient experience and dental hygiene graduate.

  • Why learning to drop your familiar tools is critical to adopting a “Next-Generation” approach to dental hygiene.
  • How “pairing” technology, similar to pairing fine wine and food, will result in an elevated, dynamic, and more engaging experience for patients, clinicians, and dental hygiene students.
  • A suggested plan for transitioning from “past-generation” dental hygiene to “next-generational” dental hygiene.

Presented By

Dr. Warren Gabarée DDS, MEd is former department head and instructor for both the dental assisting and dental hygiene programs at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, North Carolina.  Prior to moving to North Carolina, Dr. Gabarée was a part-time instructor for 15 years in Allan Hancock College’s dental assisting program in Santa Maria, California where he also maintained a full-time practice for over 15 years.  As a Certified Leadership Instructor of Phi Theta Kappa’s humanities-based leadership development curriculum, he also taught leadership development for over eight years to a diverse segment of the Santa Maria community.  Dr. Gabarée holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, and a Bachelor of Arts from Villanova University.  In May of 2015, at a time of life when most dentists his age would be planning their retirement years, Dr. Gabarée graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University, earning a Master of Education with a concentration in higher education administration. Dr. Gabarée chose to pursue his master of education degree to further his ability to be a catalyst of thought and influence for our nation’s next generation of dental healthcare providers and leaders.
