UOR 2014 Over 2 million implants are placed annually. As dental professionals we are challenged with providing safe, effective implant maintenance. Current studies reveal that infections in the periodontium occur in more than 50% of implants placed. We will be faced with different dynamics, challenges, and complications. This course will include a comprehensive system for assessment, instrumentation, monitoring, and peri-implant disease treatment based on the current textbook, Peri-Implant Therapy for the Dental Hygienist. Participabnts will gain an understanding of the considerations in research-based implant maintenance with the current research on probing, proper instruments to use for biocompatibility, and considerations for disease complications.
