UOR 2014 Hygienists at the forefront of periodontal disease management need better homecare strategies for their patients. One easy, effective approach involves prescription tray delivery of gel with 1.7% hydrogen peroxide. Research shows that this adjunctive approach significantly improves results from debridement and SRP (while also whitening teeth). A review of the science behind the prescription tray delivery of peroxides is combined with practical application and implementation strategies for the wet-gloved hygienist. Case studies highlight real-world office obstacles and patient experiences to help the audience identify good patient candidates.
