With an ever growing body of research it is imperative that members of the dental team be educated and vigilant when caring for patients. In this webcast, participants will review the following systemic disorders and their relationship to oral health and disease; diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and autoimmune diseases such as Rheumatoid arthritis and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Within the last ten years there has also been a growing number of organ donation surgeries, as technology and pharmaceuticals continues to advance surgical techniques. This webcast will touch upon what the dental provider should be aware of when seeing both organ donor and receipted patients, as well as underscore the importance of periodontal health in these populations. The importance of nutrition, wellness and mindfulness can not be underscored enough when composing a holistic treatment plan for dental patients.
