Successful restorative outcomes depend on achieving a durable and predictable adhesive interface. This session will explore the science of adhesion, focusing on key clinical factors such as substrate preparation, solvent evaporation, adhesive film thickness, and light-curing strategies. Practical insights will be shared to help clinicians overcome common pitfalls and achieve consistency in adhesive delivery. Additionally, modern applicator innovations, including medmix’s ZerofloX tip, will be introduced as tools that can support reliable and reproducible bonding results in daily restorative practice.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the fundamental principles of adhesion and their impact on restorative longevity.
- Identify common clinical challenges in adhesive application and strategies to minimize variability.
- Apply practical tips to achieve uniform adhesive films and optimal polymerization.
- Evaluate how delivery techniques and applicator design, such as the ZerofloX tip, may enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Integrate evidence-based adhesive protocols into daily practice to improve restoration outcomes and patient satisfaction.
About the Presenter

Dr. Gökhan Dokumacigil is a Restorative Dentistry Specialist, Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Istanbul Galata University, and the founder of a private clinic in Etiler, Istanbul. After completing his dental education in 2014 and completed specialty training at Marmara University, where his thesis compared the bonding strengths of different solvent-containing adhesives. His clinical and academic interests include esthetic smile design, minimally invasive and adhesive dentistry, CAD/CAM chairside restorations, composite and ceramic veneers, and microscope-assisted endodontics. He has publications about esthetic composite restorations and minimally invasive treatment protocols, and he regularly provides lectures and hands-on training for dentists in Türkiye, the UK, Europe and Middle East on anterior/posterior composites, CAD/CAM workflows, rubber-dam isolation, and dental photography. He is the Key Opinion Leader of a couple of dental companies. Since 2023, he has integrated digital dentistry, microscope-enhanced workflows, and advanced adhesive techniques at his clinic to deliver predictable, patient-centered care.
