Dismissing aches and pains places your health and the clinical career you love in jeopardy! This course will address the ergonomic realities of the dental profession and focus on the ergonomic principle of neutral position through practical and hands-on instruction. In addition, discussion will surround effective strategies to eliminate dangerous postures and finally, uncover solutions to modify individual risks for developing work-related injuries. The ultimate goal is for each attendee to create their own ergonomic pathway for a long and healthy dental career.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course is Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants from novice to advanced professionals.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this CE activity attendee will be able to:

  1. Recognize risks for work-related injuries in the dental profession
  2. Appreciate the role of neutral position in reducing ergonomic challenges
  3. Reduce ergonomic challenges through equipment, positioning and lifestyle activities.

Cindy Purdy, RDH, BSDH, CEAS

Thirty-seven years of clinical dental hygiene has fueled Cindy’s passion for workplace wellness and security. She holds an Ergonomic Certification from Colorado State University.  In 2013, she earned her Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist credential, with emphasis on improving the health and performance of dental professionals by creating safe, in-office workstations.  Customized ergonomic workplace assessments are provided.Cindy provides custom consulting, training & strategic development for multiple dental product manufacturers, emphasizing alternative, collaborative or independent work force models.She provides ergonomic programs for dental hygiene students throughout the country. She is currently focused on blending her CEAS expertise with teledentistry’s technology - platforms that have mutually redefined and expanded dental hygiene careers.

Requirements For Successful Completion

To receive credit for your participation in this webinar you will be required to complete the online program examination. To complete the online examination participants must be registered and signed-in to this website and have reviewed the program in its entirety. At the end of the program a link will be provided directing you to the program course exam. Once completed and submitted an immediate grade report will be displayed. All participants scoring at least 70% on the examination will receive a CE Verification Form verifying 1 CE credits. Verification forms may be viewed and printed immediately as well as accessed anytime in the future (24/7) from within the user records page of this website.
